§ 1 General information

Data protection is an important topic. In the following paragraphs, we will inform you regarding the collection of personal data when using our website. Personal data refers to all data, with which you can be personally identified.
When using the website for information purpose only, meaning without registering or otherwise transmitting information to us, we only collect the personal data transmitted technologically from your browser to our server required to open the website (§ 5).

We seek to provide the required transparency (in accordance with Article 12 of the GDPR). Find the following overview of processing here:

§ 3 General legal bases

For processing of personal data necessary for theperformance of a contractto which the data subject is a party, Article 6 (1) (b) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis. This also applies to processing operations required to carry outpre-contractual measures.
If processing is necessary to safeguard thelegitimate interestsof our company or a third party and if the interests, fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject do not prevail over the former interest, Article 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis for said processing. This is particularly the case if we use tracking to optimize the website or to measure the reach of our newsletter, as well as for direct marketing.
If the processing of personal data is required to fulfill a legal obligation to which our company is subject, Article 6 (1) (c) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis.
In the event that vital interests of the data subject or another natural person require the processing of personal data, Article 6 (1) (d) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis.

Insofar as we obtain the consent of the data subject for the processing of personal data, Article 6 (1) (a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) serves as the legal basis.

§ 4 General rights of the data subject

Comprehensive rights:

  • according to Article 15 of the GDPR, you can request information about your personal data processed by us. In particular, you may request information regarding the purposes of processing, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data are or have been disclosed, the planned retention period, the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, limitation of the processing, or revocation, the existence of a right to lodge a complaint, the origin of your data, if they were not collected by us, as well as the existence of an automated decision-making processing including profiling and potentially meaningful information about their details;
  • according to Article 16 of the GDPR you may request the immediate rectification of incorrect or incomplete personal data stored by us;
  • according to Article 17 of the GDPR, you may request the erasure of your personal data stored with us, unless processing is required to exercise the right of freedom of expression and information, fulfilment of a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or to assert, exercise or defend legal claims;
  • according to Article 18 of the GDPR, you may request the restriction of processing of your personal data, provided the accuracy of the personal data is contested by you, the processing is unlawful and you oppose the erasure of the personal data; we no longer need the data but they are required by you for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or you have objected to processing pursuant to Article 21 of the GDPR;
  • according to Article 20 of the GDPR, you may request to obtain the data you provided to us in a structured, prevalent and machine-readable format or to transfer your personal data to another controller;
  • according to Article 7 (3) of the GDPR, you may revoke your previously given consent at any time. Revoking consent has the consequence that we are no longer allowed to process the data, that was subject to this consent, in the future from the time of the withdrawal and
  • according to Article 77 of the GDPR you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To do so, you can typically contact the supervisory authority of your habitual residence, place of work, or of our place of business.


Exceptions

There is no right to erasure if processing is required

  • to exercise the right of freedom of expression and information;
  • to fulfill a legal obligation that requires the processing in accordance with the law of the European Union or the Member States, which the responsible person is subject to, or to perform a task that is in the public interest or is carried out in exercising official authority, which was delegated to the responsible person;
  • for reasons of public interest in the area of public health in accordance with Article 9 (2) (h) and (i) as well as Article 9 (3) of the GDPR;
  • for archival purposes of public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or for statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89 (1) of the GDPR, to the extent that the law referred to in section a) is likely to render impossible or seriously affect the achievement of the objectives of that processing, or
  • to assert, exercise or defend legal claims

§ 5 Website use

General data collected when the website is accessed

When using the website for informational purposes only, meaning without registering or otherwise transmitting information to us, we only collect the personal data transmitted to our server by your browser. When browsing our website, we collect the following data we require for technical purposes to deliver our website and safeguard the stability and security of our website (the legal basis is Article 6 (1)(f) GDPR):

  • IP address
  • Date and time of the request
  • Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
  • Contents of the request (specific page)
  • Access status /HTTP status code
  • respective data volume transferred
  • Website where the request originated
  • Browser
  • Operating system and its interface
  • Browser software language and version.


Log files

The storage in log files occurs to ensure the functionality of the website. Furthermore, these data serve the optimization of the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. In this context, the data are not analyzed for marketing purposes. Furthermore, these purposes constitute our legitimate interest in data processing according to Article 6 (1f) of the GDPR.

The data will be erased as soon as they are no longer required for the purpose of their initial collection.

For data storage in log files, this is the case after no later than seven days. Storage beyond this time period is possible. In this case, the users' IP addresses are deleted or altered, which makes it impossible to associate the accessing Client.


Cookies

In addition to the above data, cookies are saved to your computer when using our website. Cookies are small text files on your hard drive which are stored in association with the browser you are using, and which deliver specific information to the entity that places the cookie (in this case, us). Cookies cannot execute programs or transmit viruses to your computer. They serve the purpose of making the website in general more user-friendly and efficient.

§ 6 Integration of third-party services

Google Analytics

  1. This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. ('Google'). Google Analytics uses so-called 'cookies,' text files which are stored on your computer and enable the analysis of your use of the website. The information about your use of the website generated by the cookie is typically transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if IP anonymization has been activated on this website, your IP address will be truncated beforehand within member states of the European Union or in other states which are party to the Treaty on the European Economic Area. The complete IP address is only transmitted to a Google sever in the USA, as well as stored and truncated there in exceptional cases. Google uses this information on behalf of the operator of this website to analyze your use of the website, to generate reports about website activity and to provide the website operator with other services related to website and Internet use.
  2. The IP address transmitted by your browser in line with Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data.
  3. You can configure your browser to block the cookies; however, please note that you may not be able to make full use of all website functions in this case. You can further prevent Google from collecting the data related to your use of the website generated by the cookie (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plugin available under the following link:tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

  5. This website uses Google Analytics with the addition '_anonymizeIp()'. IP addresses are therefore processed in truncated form to rule out a direct relation to any person. If the collected data concerning you are directly connected to you, this connection is excluded and the personal data are deleted immediately.
  6. We use Google Analytics to analyse the use of our website and continuously improve it. The statistics obtained enable us to improve our services and make them more attractive to you, the user. In exceptional cases where personal data are transmitted to the USA, Google has committed to adhering to the EU-US Privacy Shield,www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework. The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is Article 6 (1)(1f) GDPR.

Integration of Google Maps

  1. This website uses the web services provided by Google Maps. This allows us to show interactive maps directly on the website and enables convenient use of the map function.
  2. When visiting the website, Google obtains information regarding your access of the respective subpage on our website. Additionally, the data specified under § 3 of this policy is transmitted. This occurs whether or not you have a Google user account you are logged into. If you are logged into Google, your data are matched with your account. If you do not wish to be associated with your Google account, please log out of our account before using the button. Google saves your data as usage profiles and uses them for the purpose of advertising, market research, and/or to customize the website design. This type of analysis (even for users not logged in) is particularly aimed at providing custom advertising and to provide other members of the social network with information about your activity on our website. Google ReCaptcha

To protect requests you submit via the contact form, the provider uses the reCaptcha service provided by Google Inc. (Google). The use of this service helps differentiate, whether the entry was made by a human being, or if misuse occurred through automated machine processing. The request includes sending the IP address and possible additional data required for reCAPTCHA to Google. For this purpose, the entry is transmitted to Google and subject to further processing there. By using reCaptcha you agree that your provided recognition contributes to the digitalization of old literary works. If IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address is first truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The complete IP address is only transmitted to a Google sever in the USA, as well as stored and truncated there in exceptional cases. Google uses this information on behalf of the operator of this website to analyze your use of the website. The IP address transmitted by your browser in line with reCaptcha is not merged with other Google data. These data are subject to Google's privacy policy. Social plug-ins
We use social plug-ins from a social network on our website.
When using the plug-ins, your web browser establishes a direct connection with respective social network’s servers. As a result, the respective provider is notified that your web browser has visited the corresponding page on our website, even if you do not have a user account with the provider or are currently not logged in to your account. Log files (including your IP address) are transmitted directly from your web browser to one of the provider’s servers and may be saved there. The provider or its server may be located outside the EU or EEA (such as in the United States, for example).
The plug-ins are self-contained extensions offered by the social network providers. As a result, we do not have any control over the scope of the data collected and saved by the social network providers via these plug-ins.
The purpose and scope of the collection, subsequent processing, and use of the data by the social network, as well as your related rights as a data subject and settings that can be used to protect your privacy can be found in the respective social network’s privacy policy.
(If you do not want the social network providers to receive and possibly save and/or process your personal data via this online service, you should not use the plug-in.)

LinkedIn is operated by LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland (hereinafter referred to as “LinkedIn”). §7 Contact form and email contact

Our website includes a contact form, which can be used to contact us electronically. When using this form, the data entered by the user in the input screen are transmitted to us and stored. These include:

  • Information about the receipt of a copy of the contact email
  • Consent to data storage

The following data are stored when you send a message:

  • The user's IP address
  • Date and time of the submission

In the process of sending the message, we always obtain your consent to the data being processed by referencing this privacy policy.

You may alternatively contact us at the provided email address. In this case the user's personal data transmitted in the email will be saved.

The data are not shared with third parties in this context. The data are solely used to process the conversation.
